Sure. Currently we're following the development model of the Linux kernel.
We have a closed CVS archive and from time to time we cut releases. This
current release has been taking a long long time because we have totally
rearchitected and reimplemented warped (on which the simulator depends),
and completely rearchitected and reimplemented TyVis's type system. So I
do apologize for the delay, I find it to be much too long myself. When our
testing/conformance numbers start getting close to where they should be
(thanks to DJ, they're eeking back up) we'll roll a "beta" release and hope
to get some feedback from users. At some point we'll feel comfortable
about the state of the system and we'll roll an offical new release.

If you're interested in contributing to the project, we accept patches from
users for review. Generally I'll take a look at patches ASAP (in the past
sometimes there have been long delays, lately I've been good about getting
right to user's requests) and if they look good I'll integrate them.
Sometimes I'll request some changes and ask you to resubmit the patch. If
you start sending me lots of good patches, then at some point you could
potentially get direct CVS access.

One last option is that if you're using SAVANT for real work, and need
immediate access to fixes, Clifton Labs will support SAVANT for you on a
paid basis. Support can come in many forms, from specific bug fixes to
custom backend development.

If you have any questions or comments about our current development
process, please feel free to ask them and we can address them here.

Thanks,
        Dale
